The Enhanced basICColor DISCUS is the ideal tool for the professional seeking the benefits of a non-contact color analyzer for projectors yet also wanting the ability to be in contact with the display surface. The meter is uniquely designed to provide the best calibration possible in both scenarios, allowing you to be more adaptable with changing client needs.

The Enhanced DISCUS by SpectraCal supports most display types in the market with a built-in laser for measuring in non-contact mode, large sensors with premium durable glass filters, and repeatability that is typically only seen with lab-grade equipment.  Unlike the standard DISCUS, SpectraCal’s Enhanced DISCUS is hand calibrated by our trained engineers using a laboratory grade Konica Minolta CS-2000 in a controlled environment.  What differentiates the DISCUS from other products is its level of accuracy, consistency, and quality that is seen only in devices at almost three times the price!

The DISCUS overcomes many of the common problems with video calibration equipment, saving you time and money!

Problem: Accuracy drift with changes in temperature or with high humidity.
The DISCUS: Glass filters provide much greater long-term stability than typical gel filters.

Problem: Accuracy differences on different model displays.
The DISCUS: Multi-layer glass filters more easily replicate the CIE Standard Observer Curve, requiring less calibration table correction, and maintaining higher accuracy on displays with differing Spectral Power Distribution.

Problem: Many color meters lose accuracy when subjected to typical daily mechanical shocks.
The DISCUS: Filters and sensors are mounted in the rugged aluminum case in an extremely stable potting structure, providing a rugged, stable mechanical platform.

What makes the Enhanced DISCUS so impressive?

  • Enhancement by a Konica Minolta CS-2000 in our Seattle calibration lab. We upgrade its accuracy and add support for almost all display types.
  • Consistent repeatability (and we mean REALLY consistent). This meter shows results similar to impressive high end meters used in critical viewing environments.
  • Solid aluminum polished chassis (think Apple computer meets Mercedes Benz).  This device will not only perform as expected, it will last a long time too.  With premium glass filters you can send this to our lab time after time.
  • CalMAN controllable internal laser for precise targeting on front projector screens and non contact measurement of flat panel displays.  With the laser you will always have the perfect alignment.
  • Integrated diffuser for front projection measurements with rotating sensor cover to prevent dust from entering the critical measurement window.
  • Ruggedized water proof carrying case for your Enhanced DISCUS and much more
